Membership of Portico demonstrates a publisher\u2019s commitment to ensuring that valuable material they have published will always be available independent of the publisher\u2019s own existence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What Portico does:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Portico provides access to its library participants when specific conditions or \u201ctrigger events\u201d occur, which may cause journal titles to no longer be available from the publisher or any other source such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>When a publisher ceases operations and titles are no longer available from any other source<\/li><li>When a publisher ceases to publish and offer a title, and it is not offered by another publisher or entity.<\/li><li>When back issues are removed from a publisher\u2019s offering and are not available elsewhere<\/li><li>Upon catastrophic failure by a publisher\u2019s delivery platform for a sustained period of time<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>When e-journal titles have \u201ctriggered,\u201d they are available to all participants in the Portico E-Journal Preservation Service, regardless of whether the participating institution has previously licensed the content.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Acta Materia Medica&nbsp;guarantees that all published material will be available for perpetuity.&nbsp;Acta Materia Medica&nbsp;is a subscriber member to the Portico digital preservation service provided by ITHAKA, a not-for-profit organization with a mission to help the academic community use digital technologies to preserve the scholarly record and to advance research and teaching in sustainable ways.
